Hey TCG fans, and welcome to yet another news roundup! Twice a month, we bring you a condensed form of the biggest news across the TCG universe.

This post will always be split into two parts – first, the hottest news from the last 2 weeks, and second, an ongoing release calendar of upcoming and current product releases for active TCGs.

Magic the Gathering‘s Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty prereleases kicked off, and the expansion launched on Arena as well. Perhaps showing the merit of 17 years of anticipation – or the influence of the propagation of anime into pop culture in the last two decades – the set’s popularity appears to be eclipsing that of its original introduction to the East-Asian-inspired plane. To celebrate the release, Wizards has released a few cool pieces of media, including this collaboration with the popular Vocaloid Hatsune Miku.
MetaZoo launched their second kickstarter in conjunction with the United States Playing Card Company, in which backers can receive MetaZoo-themed Playing Cards as well as exclusive MZ promos. Also teased are a collaboration with PSA to award promos to people who send in MetaZoo cards to be graded by the card-verification giant, and a promotion with eBay to receive promos or special product when using their authentication service for your MetaZoo cards.
Yu-Gi-Oh followed last month’s supplemental set The Grand Creators with the first full Booster Set release of the year, Battle of Chaos, featuring new support for the classic Dark Magician themes, among others.
On their Facebook page and other socials, Jasco Games has begun previewing Crimson Rampage, the second My Hero Academia CCG set for UniVersus. The roster of pro heroes and students continues to massively grow for the popular fledgling format which is still barreling towards its massive cash prize events later this year, though little has been said still about the resumption of Standard-format events that integrate My Hero Academia CCG with the previous licenses like Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Yu Yu Hakusho, Cowboy Bebop, and more.
Dragon Ball Super Card Game announced an update to their Banned/Limited/Errata card list, including a ban to two Black BT3 cards that have been relative staples in their strategies for a long time, and an attempt to rein in the power of Yellow decks.
Make sure you Go pick up some boosters of the freshly announced Pokemon Go expansion for the Pokemon TCG, which is set to release this summer, just in time for the 6th anniversary of the still-popular Mobile game. Fake Pokemon Go booster boxes have been floating around for years, and it was long assumed that an official collaboration would not happen!
In addition to launching their new expansion, Everfest, in cool recyclable booster packaging, Flesh and Blood TCG took yet another page from Wizards of the Coast and announced their first Pro Tour event would be taking place May 13-15 of this year, in everyone’s favorite US tourism destination, New Jersey.
Finally, Final Fantasy TCG at last released some news in the form of a blog post detailing some slight delays to their 2022 release schedule (reflected in our dates in the section below), the beginning of their spoiler season for the next set, Emissaries of Light, and a brief acknowledgment of the lack of official Organized Play during the chaotic pandemic era – and a reassurance that more is coming as they sort out the plans.
